Springtime in the Mountains!

April seems to have come quickly then promptly left the scene of its accident to be replaced by its psychotic sibling, May. We've been here in the Teton Valley for about 10 years now and while I've gotten used to the small town feel with all its quirkiness, I haven't quite reconciled myself to its rather prolonged insistence for winter. We woke up this morning to good coating of snow from last night.

By afternoon, after a much needed nap, the snow had melted but the clouds have started to roll in. It may just repeat itself tomorrow. On the brighter side, we woke up to Sadie barking at a small herd of deer on our backyard. It was a pretty sight to see, no doubt. Moments like this remind me that this is a wonderful place to be.

And when you live at the foot of that huge mountain, with all that it offers the body, mind and soul...well, if there's such a thing as a a healing place then I would say that we're there.

Colter and I stopped at a lookout just before dropping down to the valley last month as we returned from a trip to Idaho Falls. He took this picture for me. It's a view that tells me I'm home.

Where did March Go?

March seems as short as February. I'm looking forward to a REAL Spring...let's just hope we even have a Spring season. In the meantime we might as well enjoy(?) this late winter climate. We're hitting the 40's now so that's always a nice sign. The snow is starting to melt but that hasn't stopped the family fisherman from ice fishing (no surprise there). The man can fish all day without a bite and be happy as a clam!

So we joined him last weekend. It was an awesome afternoon and the weather was nice. The ice was still thick on Jackson Lake and the ground was solid...no slush! We fished along Cow Island.

The kids fished patiently (well, for a while anyways). But it turned into a slow afternoon. So I pulled out the camera to entertain ourselves.

The kids were starting to use the fishing gear for non-official purposes...like throwing snow at each other. It goes to show you don't need fancy gadgets to play.

So we hung out. Jud fished. The kids played. I took pictures. My threshold for this kind of entertainment is regretfully short. it was a good thing I remembered to bring the camera.

But what a great backdrop we have! The mountains are always impressive to look at no matter what the season and I think Winter does have a way of showing us nature's best (if not true) side!

Weekend at Home

Well, it's winter and for the most part we just hang out. Well, we hang out as much as a family of 4 can hang out. Never a dull day in this household and we try and kick the kids off the computer and Wii to enjoy the outdoors.

Starting out the new year with a fifth wheel.

Exhausting is the only word I can use to describe having a very interesting 6 year old spend the week with us. We love you Beau but we were plenty ready to send you home to you mama.
