It's March and we have had an interesting first quarter of the year. All is well in the Tolman household. Jud and Pen are busy with work as usual. The kids are growing up. Sadie has put a dent in our pocketbook with a recent surgery she had to remove a cyst in her stomach.
Jud has been a frequent visitor of the area's frozen lakes this past few months. His usual die-hard demeanor against the cold weather has not prevented him from ice fishing–even at sub-zero temps during the pre-dawn hours. Pen and Anni chose to stay home and avoid the ordeal. "Just bring home lots of fish," Pen says to Jud. Colter joined him a few times and has managed to break through the ice on a couple of ocassions. Though not all the way through (thank goodness!), he arrived home a little soggy but still excited to be fishing with his dad.
The highlight of the month also belongs to this 12 year old boy of ours (hard to believe he's that old, isn't he?) who finally claimed his fame by making it to the front page of the Teton Valley News and occupying a considerable amount of acreage in another valley paper. Colter recently was invited to a regional spelling bee and placed 9th out of 43 students. His apparent nervousness caught the eye of both the audience and photographers as he made it up through the rounds.
